- When there is no Key signature on the bar, it is considered the Key of C major.
- If there are bunch of # signs on the treble clef, count one tone above the last #. That gives you the key of the song.
- The 2-5-1 progression is the most common chord progression in Jazz
- A triad is a chord with 3 notes
- A 7th chord is a chord made of 4 notes - The extra note is the 7th note in the scale.
- The semitones between the notes of a Major 7th chord are - 3 - 2 - 3
- The semitones between the notes of a Minor 7th chord are - 2 - 3 - 2
- When in a chord, the middle note determines if its a major or a minor
- A note, all by itself is neither a major or a minor. Its only when you play a chord(i.e. 3 notes), you determine if you are playing the major or minor chord.
